Artist Statement

Honnie Goode
Artist Statement, 2006

As an artist I combine an intuitive approach to image making with the structured framework of learned technique. Ultimately, by combining the emotional with the rational, I aspire to achieve a balance within myself. My intent is to illicit an emotional response, in hopes that  the viewer will have more than just a superficial experience. Even though I am mostly recognized as a painter, I do not label myself as such, and instead consider myself an artist who enjoys delving into new processes. When making art, translating the idea is what is most important and the most essential part of what I do. The conceptual framework and how it is best translated ultimately dictates the medium I will use. Through this method of art making I am always learning, and through the act of creating I find meaning and truth about myself, and my environment.
